Sam posted a procedure he followed to repair his dozer which appears to be written by Northern Tractor. I know they no longer sell the dozer but if they have a book of repair procedures or any other information related to the dozer it would sure be nice to document before it is lost. Does anyone have a number or contact I could call? (Sam?…Leon?)

Yes, the procedure came from Northern Tractor. E-mail is the best way to contact them. Bob.Daily@NORTHERNTOOL.COM They still carry parts for the dozer…

Another prompt answer. We dozer owners have choices. Before I do any major repair on my dozer, I will be calling this number for parts/procedures.

That's really good to know, now I can leave and go on vacation.
Curious how in depth their dozer parts inventory is.

I'm sure they have documentation and parts for Jinma tractors too, doesn't mean I'll be calling them anytime soon. Call me old fashioned but I'll continue to support those dealers who support and provide advise here on this forum. I'll also take the advise when available of those here who have "been there and done that" relating to my specific questions. Just my 2 cents.

I'll speculate Northern's "corporate policy" prohibits it's staff to participate in these boards as it probably would have an adverse effect on their market share. Come to think of it, I've never run across a Northern employee posting anything, I don't think.

That's great that they sent you here. I'm not about to tell anyone where they should shop for parts or anything else. As a small business owner however I can relate to the dealers that support this site. They don't sell 100,000 items, just tractors and/or dozers, and are more skilled in them as that is what they do. I have local competition from large parts houses and a wrecking yard owned by LKQ/Keystone. Yes they can beat my price on some things, but do they sell paint? If so can they match colors? Can they give advise? The answer to the first is some of them do. Number two and three, not a chance. What good is it to buy paint cheaper if it doesn't match, nothing can be done to make it match, and nobody can tell you how to apply it? The same with these machines. If I have a question after buying a part I want to know the guy who sold it to me cares enough about these machines that it's his only business, and can walk me through anything because he's done it before.

Very well put, Tin! And that is exactly why I constantly recommend that people get their parts from Tommy or Ronald. I've dealt with both of them and both have given me a tremendous amount of advice and guidance that I couldn't get anywhere else. I don't bother price shopping them, since they offer the service I need when I need it. No one could possibly discount an item sufficiently to offset that service so there's no point wasting any time shopping around.
I should note that there probably are other dealers here who are equally knowledgeable and helpful as Ronald and Tommy; I just haven't had occasion to deal with them so I recommend those I have personal knowledge of.

I definitely understand and respect your point of view. At the time I started my project I did not know of your existence. Northern Tractor may be a large company rather than a mom and pop store but the people I dealt with were helpful, with, as you can see, from the information they sent me from there manual. My first priority was obtaining the parts I needed. Northern Tractor appears to have a larger parts inventory than a mom and pop store. Since I have have been on this site, I have dealt with Circle G with good results. I definitely would not throw Northern Tractor under the bus just because they are a large company.

I apologize if my post came across negative and I totally agree with you, but they don't participate in these forums because they don't want or have to. I have purchased a lot of goods from Northern, they are a good company to do business with.

when first started this site on world crossing/homestead one of northerns head tractor/dozer person was a member and very active; and at the time there was a direct link from northern's tractor dozer site; don't know what happen; as others have said all this was before many of the dealers here were in bussiness;
i totally agree that tommy, ronald, and other of the dealers here are a great assest to this form and their customers; for me the delivery was the deciding factor; northern handled it all the freight a roll back to unload it from the semi; all i had to do was be here to take delivery after it was on the ground;
