I was talking to a service rep for a generator I bought and we got to discussing tractors because he said his company was considering handling tractors. I said I had a NorTrac which is a Jinma and he said that Jinma is owned by Mahindra. He said they started the Jinma tractor company in China because it was close to the parts suppliers.
Is this true?

They bought a controlling interest last year about this time. Jinma has been right where they are at (except for the new digs) for a long time as far as I can figure.

Hmm, ok, he had it slightly wrong. He said they started the company and I didn't think they did but I didn't dispute him at the time, I figured I would ask here.
I thought I had seen here that Mahindra had bought the factory. Has the quality gotten better or worse?
I told him about Affordable Tractor and he said he knew of them. I told him to contact Tommy about Jinma. I also told him I really like my tractor and recommend them as a very good tractor.

Eric at Keno Tractors sells both brands. While more expensive the Mahandra is much more "finished", the higher quality is day and night just looking at the two. I can see a hydrostatic transmission option and better quality fiberglass, plastic, and better quality castings in the future. I doubt the tractors would have a hydrostatic option in China as these tractors are built to repair easily for a reason. Just my two cents.

I agree with Tinbender, Mahindra tractors are a great deal more expensive than Jinma tractors due their superior quality and finish. You would need to ask Keno, Cirgle G or Affordable to find out if they've noticed any quality changes to Jinma tractors since Mahindra acquired Yancheng!

The other thing to remember is Mahindra bought 51%, the Chinese still own the other 49%. Mahindra mentioned in the piece that Bert posted that with the favorable labor rates in China that they could see building their tractors there and ship them out to the world. They will never build a Chevy to compete with Cadillac, so I don't see Mahindra ever making a Jinma too nice.

I visited the Jinma factory ** you don't have permission to see this link ** and am in almost daily contact with them now for a shipment.
The factory is under continuous improvement and I'm looking forward to receiving my shipment.
