I do have to agree with Mike on this  the old format was much easer to find all the new post, this one you have to hunt for everyone. if it is like this I probably won't be able to find all the good information that "Bob Rooks" adds to this fine site, and all the good equipment upgrades that all the other members put on that I so much look forward too. I'm sure you spent a lot of time on this and it is appreciated.  just my opinion Steve

I may just not know how to us ethis format yet, but I like the old one a lot better.  Like Mike said, I could see all the new posts in one glance on the old system.  I can't find them here.

Iv'e been going around this new site in circles and still can't figure out anything.

If you begin on the forums page it isn't much different than the old site. What you are seeing is threads that have no content yet. Give 'em a chance to fill up.

What Bob is implying here is that you guys need to get busy and break stuff on your tractors and crawlers so that there will be posts to read.  Tongue out

I'm slowly getting used to the new format and may eventually get so I can tolerate it.  Like most senior citizens, I'm not all that fond of change.  I'm still not sure if I approve of this whole internet thing…

Bob said, "Well if you can rember ARPANET then that's a moot point."

Well, I do remember Arpanet, and all its little offspring.  Funny isn't it, we start with Arpanet and a few short years laterthe internet is a large part of the rebellion in Egypt.  You just never can quite tell which way a thing will go, can you? Smile

I remember ARPANET, DDN, BBN, and the like. In fact I first used email back in 1981.

But none of that has helped me find a feature to modify the way these webpages display on my monitor. There's a helluva lotta wasted space on my 20" screen. Nearly 40% actually. The website itself occupies a 10" wide vertical strip in the middle . But on both sides there's 3 inches of nothing, similar to the pillar box format on my widescreen (16:9) TV. But pillar box format on a 4:3 computer monitor just looks wasteful. Don't look too hot on my 16:9 laptop either.

And what's with the color? It looks like sand. I had my fill of that crap when I was in the service. Default double spacing between paragraphs is kinda clumsy too.

I tried the obvious "settings" link, which only brought u my profile page. Have I missed some other link or feature that can assist with making CTOA pages display more efficiently on my computer monitor?

Personally I like the double spacing between paragraphs, more comfortable to read.

Greg,

Can you adjust your monitor properties separatley from the graphics card? My Viewsonic 18" monitor is filled full screen, my laptop is filled full screen, and my phone is filled full screen too. Doesn't leave much else…

The "sand"… ah yes. Call it beige and all the bad memories will fade away. Laughing

The current site is set at a FIXED theme width of 940 to be the best possible average choice for the majority of users. When I use an adjustable width the site layout doesn't always play nice. I was always taught to play nice !  Wink

940 width? Figured it was something like that. If I'm not mistaken, we go through this every time you change providers. What is this now – the 4th time? I've got a 1600x1200 (default) monitor that works just fine everywhere else on the internet. It's just a little aggravating to have little more than half a screen when I visit CTOA

And I can't get the "quote and reply" to work either

The quote and reply issue has been reported and I am working on it to see what the issue is. As for the width, I try to develop a website based on the average users preference. It's the best compromise for now.

Thanks Timbender..I did resize the design up from 940px to 1000px which I think should still fit nice on most of today's computer screens.

Oh, I just added a PHOTO ALBUM to this new site, so members can upload images they wish to share with others. This is just seperate from posting a image here in a forum post.
