Subsoiler/line plow and Turf Tires

I live in s.e. tn. we have heavy clay here mixed with some rock  . I use a subsoiler yearly in the garden to loosen the ground. What I have done is to strap 2 20 kilo suitcase weights to the frame so it does not skip across to ground, it will bury to the horizontal frame of the subsoiler quickly. I go about every 2 ft. when subsoiling the ground. If you do what I have done make a place where you can strap it to a large post or tree for when you disconnect it, it will be very top heavy a real toe crusher. My father in law plowed in electrical  uf cable with one with out the cable shoe, He went over it once without the cable then went over it pulling the cable , I think it plowed at 12 inches. But he did not have my subsoiler with the weights. I got my subsoiler at tractor supply it is a king kutter. Look at several if you can there is some differences in how heavily they are built. Oh I pull mine with a 50 hp 4 wheel drive tractor the 20 hp 4 wheel drive I have will not pull it well in the soil here.

I have a Northern Tool subsoiler. I haven’t had any problems with it. I used it to run 1 1/2 plastic pipe. I chained it to the bottom of the subsoiler and pulled it 200 ft thru rocky reclaim. I used it to cut water drain offs. I use a soft #2 bolt in the lower hole for a shear bolt to protect my equipment. I’ve snapped it on large tree roots. I’ve got a 40 hp tractor with ag tires and I’ve never slipped a wheel pulling the subsoiler.
