Probably irrelevant, but I use a 68″ flail behind my 30 HP dozer through 6′ high scotch broom with no problems. You should have no problem with a 48″ flail.

A friend has a Betstco Flail mower and I have been doing searches about them. I am planning to use a 60″ mower. What I am concerned about is our land is NOT level. it’s like riding a roller coaster when mowing it. It’s bumpy and has shallow washes. I am mowing the roughest part of the land today and will ask my friend to make a few passes with his mower to see how it does.

I decided to ask here even though I haven’t been on this site in a few years. Man! This site looks strange compared to what it was and how other forums are laid out. WOW, not fond of it at all.

a flail mower has less distance front to back so it should work easier on that type ground than a finishing mower or ruff cut rotary mower. and we have learned to adjust to the siteĀ  with time.

Thanks for the replies. My friend brought his tractor and mower and made a few passes on the roughest places and it did a very good job. I think I will order one next week.
