if I was going to use hydro oil where gear oil is required, universal is what I would use. It is a heavier weight so the oil surface on the gears should hold better. And if used in cold temps would make it flow easier except in the power steering still a bit heavy there. But if mostly used in hot locations it would be ok in the power steering but to thin everywhere else. Let me state this if the tractor is pulling a load like a plow or bog harrow use the correct oil for each sump. It does not take that many hours with the incorrect lube it mess things up when loaded.

          Thank you

Whenever I asked this question in the past everybody just says use hydraulic oil but they didn’t pinpoint the specific locations. I always thought that gear oil should be used in the front hubs and in the front Differential.

Only load I put on the tractor is picking up pallets with FEL or running a 8 foot wide brush hog for 20 or so hours per year.

So this is where I am now.

-Front Axle–3 gallons 80w90 gear oil
-Front Hubs–1 gallon 80w90 gear oil
-Power Steering–.66 gallons AW46 Hydraulic Oil
-Rear Gear / Transmission (same fill location)–15 gallons Universal Hydraulic Oil
          -3pt / FEL—-5.5+ gallons AW46 Hydraulic Oil

          How does this look now???

This Foton 704 uses over 25 gallons of fluid total plus 2.5 gallons of 15w40 engine oil. About $350.00 per fluid change plus filters.

          Thank you

          Joe

that looks like it will work, I think your tractor and mine are similar in fluid layout. One thing engine oil is the most important to replace as long as the other systems are kept water free .
