For some reason my original post never got published. And some of my older posts have vanished as well. And the contact the moderator does not work either.
My original post stated that my rear tire inner tube failed after 23 years and driving it on a flat for 100 yards ruined the tire or the tire failed in several places and eventually allowed the inner tube to become punctured.
My replacement was found locally after waiting 24 hours and cost $350 plus $28 for a remount. The original Chinese tire was a 12 ply and this replacement tire is a 6 ply from India. And the replacement is 1/2” less wide even though it stated 9.5-24.

that is funny kinda, I had a tire failure also s year a rear ,I think a 8.3 x 20 ag grip ,had a external scar I guess that went thru and was also cracked internally . It made the tube being able to get punctured by something like a thorn. I lucked out and the co-op was able to save the tire by placing a internal boot over the inside crack and replacing the tube. That tractor is a 2005 ,but the tire have so much tread left I just hate to replace them just as preventive thing cause of age. But that time will come sooner or later. Just put solid tires on the skid steer ,no leaks there to worry about,but ride is stiffer for sure.

I wanted to save this tire but there was 8 failures of varying degrees around the tire but all between the tire lug junctions.
Before I broke down the tire I re-inflated the punctured inner tube and saw that those tire lug slits actually widened and exposed the inner tube and likely caused the punctured tube.
But driving on a flat tire pulling a bush hog certainly didn’t help that rear tire and confused the exact reason why the tire failed.
Next time I will be more careful.

i just replaced two front 8.3 x 20 tires yesterday that were looking pretty bad ,plenty of thread left but the dry rot cracks were getting concerning. The tires I got were made in India so maybe that will be a move up from China made tires,but even they lasted 21 years. Went from 6 to 8 ply tires too.
