        Don’t have a 3540, but have you checked under the seat? The 254 have the a filter under the cover plate, under the seat. No screw on filter.

          still can’t find hydraulic filter on my 354 jinma tractor. input would be appreciated B-)

            i forgot the 254 and the 354 are different at least in the 2005 model.

              not that this helps you out but I have a 2005 lenar(dong-feng) 204a it has a filter screen in a tube approx. 3″x12″ under the floor pan as also does my 2006 foton 504a . I assume they are on the return line.
