I meant to look at mine this weekend Larry, but since I work half days on Saturday life kinda runs me over. I’ll make it a point to look before work in the morning. I know they’re welded on the outside, the rough welds from the factory wore a hoke in a steering hose, it’s where else is it welded that’s the question.

Well I looked this morning and I’m afraid I cant help you.  My Dec 2007 284 already has the battery well below the radiator.

Here’s a picture, they sure must have changed a lot between 06 and late 07. As you can see, the battery’s out of the way, but the steering reservoir and the air cleaner sure do a fine job of blocking it.

Wow….mine just has the battery….but the air filter is at the top of the radiator…I don’t think it blocks it….I think I’m going to move the battery back by the clutch…there is enough room to move it there and not have it interfere with my leg pushing in the clutch. I have an extra RV plastic battery box that just fits between the fender and seat mount…the positive cable should reach the battery…the negative cable I will ground right there to the frame …that’s if it ever stops raining here in NY
