What was the clutch hydraulic pressure before you disassembled it?

What does the clutch input shaft spline look like?

Do you know the operating principles of the hydraulic shuttle clutch? Like what causes it to engage and disengage?

There is a remote possibility that the issue lies within the bevel gear.

What type of oil has been used in the bevel gear compartment and in the shuttle clutch?

I didn`t check the hyd pressure before I pulled it a part.

The input spline look fine no sigh of and distorison.

The piston gets pushed by hyd pressure in to the clutch pack either forward or backwards and those parts look fine.

The oil that came out kinda looks like AW46 but the customer has put other kinds of oil in there as he had leaks.

I`m going to mark all the hoses today so I can look in to the rear end and see what I can find back there.

The hydraulic pressure RELEASES the clutch discs and plates, the springs are what ENGAGE the clutch pack. Just like a Cat.

AW46 is the wrong oil to use in the shuttle clutch, but can get by for a short while. Do not use UTF, ATF, or THF oils. Recommended oil is ISO AW 220 MACHINE OIL, or Caterpillar TO-4. These oils have an AGMA rating of 5.

The transmission and bevel gear case should be using 75W-90 or 85W-90 gear oil. Anything less and you're asking for trouble. Final drives should have 90W-140 gear oil.

I do see wear on the 6 spline main shaft all ready where it slides in to the adaptor on the flywheel. Any idea if the new parts are a harder shaft?  This dozer only has 200 hres on it.

              Thanks

              Terry

Can you post a picture of it please? Don't know if a new shaft would be case hardened or not, but that could be done.

It's pretty difficult for first time users to post a pic, but easy as pie once you've done it. Click on the little tree in the formatting bar directly above your text, then click on the image to the right of the “Image URL” text box. Then search your computer for the picture file.

Where do I get the splined bushing to fit the drive plate

                              on the flywheel?

Did you try Circle-G or Yuchai directly? Might be able to have a machine shop make a few.

Do you have a part number?

Not sure what splined bushing you are referring to.
