Can you possibly re-phrase your question?

If you are starting off in 4th gear hi range you are smoking (destroying) your clutch. Personally I would not even think of starting out in 4th gear low range.

Not only that, starting out in 4th would be a neat trick with only 3 forward gearsembarassed

                  Tin,

Yes but with a 454 he does have that 4th gear.  It is better for “Revolutionizing” the engine.  Ok that wasn't nice of me frown

Bob, I see that you went to a rating of Expert which is most deserved in your case.  This seems to have happened at the time you passed 100 posts.  Now my worry is what happens when an idiot posts over a 100 times?  roflmao

                      Now, Rich.

Don't be so hard on yourself, I'm sure everyone here would agree that you are “strong like bull, smart like tractor”.

Hmmmm, I think I've just been “damned by faint praise” as the Bard would say.

Even worse, it's probably not entirely true on either count –  I know the bull is stronger and the tractor is probably smarter than I am on most days – it just sits there relaxing while I fumble around trying to get things done.  The tractor and I end up tied for accomplishments on too many of those days!holeagain  I keep on rolling that rock up the hill anyway, though.  laugh

Thanks for the kind words Larry. I didn't even notice it. Don't know what Hal's criteria is. Maybe it's a seniority thing – I'm over 70 now. laugh I was always worried I'd get the MPP rating (Most Prolific Poster). roflmao

Back to the original post, after re-reading it appears this fellow has a problem with the Hi-Low range and is effectively in neutral when he shifts into Hi range.hmmm

I'm shooting for MPWA — Most Posts While Asleeproflmao

Gree, does it move or try to move at all in Hi Range? Or does it act like it is in netural? If it acts like it is in netural it may be a bent or broken shift fork for the Hi Range.
