Are the adjusters at the end of their travel?
If not, adjust again otherwise the clutch may finally have worn out.
Tractor splitting time. Ugh!
Can you confirm that there is not any contamination on the clutch by looking inside? An internal oil leak could cause a clutch to slip even though it isn’t worn out. But, that again means splitting the tractor to fix the leak. 🙁
A contaminated clutch disc MAY be able to be cleaned with brake cleaner and saved. Operative word, MAY.
Besides, once you get it open to fix whatever is wrong, a new clutch and throw out bearing are almost imperative at that point.
I’m facing the same kind of thing on my tractor, unfortunately there are two options for clutches and I have to split it to find out which one I need. I would much prefer to have the replacement on hand before splitting the tractor.
Even with an overhead gantry and an engine hoist, this is not a job I am looking forward to. It won’t be “hard” but a lot of fiddly stuff to deal with just to get to the problem. Just thankful it isn’t a fancy tractor with cab, A/C, heat, lights, stereo and a huge wiring harness.

heah, I see that, If I remember right there was a issue with some of these tractors with the bolts that hold the trans. on getting loose and effecting the clutch engagement,but but I do not remember the details, it was on this forum if you can find it . I know some of the forum history was lost years ago. So I guess that there is no free pedal left? I think I set mine at about 1 inch or so.

well I got a dongfeng too a 2005 le204a, . I had a water pump shaft break off and it launched the cooling fan into the radiator , I bought a water pump on ebay and that is the extent of my parts being needed,I could not source off the net. So I will be watching this thread if you will post a person who has dongfeng parts. Maybe a call to ranch hand supply 1308 benefit road chesapeake,va. 757 650 4462 ,maybe they have some insight on parts.

Well, got her split! Actually came apart a bit better than expected. Unbolted clutch and surprisingly most of it looks good. Friction plate was obliterated and pieces everywhere… obviously my problem! Also throw out bearing is gone but otherwise I should be able to replace minimum parts. Overall good news!
FYI if in need of parts I’ve found 2 sources… R&R Farm Equipment in AR and Ray Hillman in AB Canadaboth were very helpful with questions and knowledge.. I’ll update when I get the parts needed and it’s reassembly time. Try to add pics…

Yes it’s a 2 stage clutch.. she’s been good but I’m rough on the clutch.. I use it with a plow on the back in winter and a few projects were heavy lifting and slow moving big rocks into place. Had to use clutch and brake a lot. When I started to adjust it years ago I knew this time was coming!

Well update time… long story… shipped clutch to get rebuilt and between companies ups lost it! Anyway.. with state of tractor needing a few other things too I’ve decided to see if anyone is interested in lots of good parts. Again a DF 354. 2002. Ill try to put pics in… gives all the info!
appreciate all the great advice and assistance over the years..downsizing and going to the green side!!
Hope in the end I can help someone or a few with reasonable parts…. I’m in the northeast us…
