That sucker is HUGE! I remember when they used to just drop one side of the bunks and the logs would just roll off. Guess that took too much time – about 15 seconds.

There used to be a chip mill in town, 20 acres of log decks. They would use those to unload the log trucks and fill the decks, then bring the logs from the decks to the conveyer belt to grind them. Of course if they drove over a log it would snap like a toothpick, and anything 8 feet or less would jam the conveyer belt. Sooooo, the public was allowed onto the grounds for a few hours at night and on weekends to cull the 8 footers (or less).laugh  Up until around six years ago I never had to leave town to get (free) firewood. But their 20 year lease with the city at $200.00 a year for the twenty acres was up and the city thought it could make a fortune off the property after they developed it for industrial. Now that the city spent millions in infrastructure improvements  one or two buildings were built and are empty, and my firewood access is gone.frown
