is there any other pluses for a high track besides being able to make a shorter dozer which I assume would make it turn quicker?

That cute little two-banger has been around for quite awhile, but they cannot be imported (legally). The elevated design of the swing (track) frames keeps the main frame and final drives from dragging through the rice paddies. A short footprint on a tracked machine isn’t desirable due to the washboard effect. This particular tractor isn’t available in a bulldozer configuration, it’s for pulling cultivators and plows, and using three-point hitch attachments.

Reminded me of the high clearance Caterpillar 10 that I rescued years ago. Interesting design and extremely rare. A number of them were brought in to Australia for use in the sodden cane fields of far north Queensland. The high clearance allowed them to ride over the young crop for cultivating, fertylizing or spraying. It was in very poor condition so I sold it to a restorer as I knew I was unlikely to ever find time to do the job myself. Maybe in another life….

Wow, that’s cool, but I hear ya. I don’t know if I’ll finish my cement mixer.
