Hi i have what i believe is a 2002-05 Nortrac 3500 Dozer. Last year I raised the 3 point hitch arms and now they won’t lower. I’ve tried putting down pressure on them while someone else moves the lever and nothing happens. If I move the lever to the up position, they do jerk up. The dozer is at camp which Im going to this weekend and I would like to try a few things if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks.

I do not know for sure but I assume like tractors it has a knob near the seat that restricts the flow of oil out of the 3 point arms lift system , could the knob be turned in all the way?

It sounds to me like your max lift stop bolts are out of adjustment and the lift piston has hyper extended and become cocked in the cylinder. I have heard of this happening on wheelies too. Not too big of a job to correct, but you have to remove the seat. The piston and cylinder are bolted to the bevel gear case cover. Look in your parts manual for an exploded view.

Also, there is no knob under the seat.

Its raining down here so wont be able to start any disassembly, but did look it over and saw what you were talking about. Might have to wait tillĀ  I get it back home where i have air tools.

Hi Bob, got an update. Brought the dozer home and with the help of my son, we removed the seat, floor plate and bevel gear cover. Gained access to the piston and pushed it back in. The lift arms on the three point were pretty stuck in position so we soaked them with WD 40. That may of been part of my problem why they would not go down, even with a couple hundred pounds of down pressure. Anyway we got it back together. My question is where are these stops you mentioned previously? Thanks

The early models have a stop bolt with a lock nut under the top link mount. Yours may not have this, sorry for the confusion. Don’t know what model year you have. Was your piston hyper extended/cocked?

In the future I suggest you post questions here (I’m there, and it’s free too.) because this site has become unreliable and there is no guarantee (or feedback) from the owner as to it’s longevity.
