Yeah, I’ve done that job. Not terribly difficult but tedious and time consuming.
You have to take the whole knuckle apart so you can replace the seals and the felt. The felt is just there as a kind of barrier to keep the debris off the seals so they last longer. Once the felt is gone the seals go next, then you have a leak.
Usually it puts a groove in the spindle that won’t seal unless you do something about that too. In my case I special ordered some spedee-sleeve type bushings to slip over the spindle to give the new seal a smooth surface to ride on.
The biggest part of the job is making sure you get all the paper shims back in the correct locations so that you don’t have to mess with the backlash in the gears.

However, I did find an old jinma web sight that I favorited with a lot of info. I remember this one from way back in 2004 when I got my jinma. He has pics and explains the whole procedure of a front axil repair as well as many other maintenance procedures along with a wealth of info. As they say pics are worth a thousand words! Anyway to all you tractor folks out there that are looking for more info on your tractor A great site that mentions CTOA and has a wealth of info is johnstractor.homestead.com Sure would be nice to have a chiltons manual on Jinma tractors until then we have the web. LOL guess I am just old school happy tractoring folks…

I counted just 1o fasteners to remove the front axle cover from what I call the front drive unit. Then 4 fasteners to remove the steering link and 1 castellated nut to remove the power steering cylinder.
And the one 5/8” hex head bolt that allows the 184.31.111-1 standing shaft to drop out of the 183-31-112 standing shaft housing to then access the two seals.The whole process is one hour or less. You will need a jack to remove and re- install the 50 pound front drive unit.
