well it is getting ugly, clutch and all associated parts, ring gear, piston rings, wheel seals, radiator. And this thing does not have a temp gauge I guess your supposed to look at the cap for boil over.there is a place on the head that can be drilled and taped for a gauge so that got added.the guy I am getting parts from says that it has gotten real hot and the heat took the spring out of the oil rings, but they all are worn but on the bright side the jugs look good I think a good honing will fix them up.

a lower hose engine coolant heater might be needed if you are in a real cold place.

my neighbor has a massey with that feature but I think that each tractor would have to be made to fit, no universal fit type.if I get a min.I am going to look at mine to see how easy or difficult it would be to make something up.with a catch to hold it up while hooking up the pto.great now something else to do.

well now that you have had time to reflect do you believe that that plastic bread clip had restricted a oil passage or was something else the cause of the bearing failure.

I use the diesel clean never had a problem, but maybe never needed a treatment ,it is one of those things if you never had a issue with something how do you know. But as far as I know diesel bugs must have water or moisture to live so pure diesel they can not live and reproduce in.So if you never had a water in the fuel light on,or if you inspected the fuel that you drained off  and it was free of water.maybe you just picked up trash in the fuel.

the newer augers have a shield on the gearbox much like the pto shield on the tractor.but when you break the shear bolt sometimes things do not get put back on,yes there is a access hole in the shield to drive the bolt out but sometimes people always have a excuse why things happen.

well the long version is the ground is clay here and if it has been dry it is very hard.she was helping her husband who was on the tractor knowing him the tractor was wound up.she was rocking the auger by hand on the gearbox to get it to bite, her sleeve was grabed by the shear bolt and  it jerked her arm almost off,it pretty much just hangs loose now.
